That 2003 run was really something special. I mean, it wasn't our first championship, but after seeing LA dominate the league for those 3 years in the way that they did it was hard for me to imagine us getting back to the big dance any time soon.
It was before we had the mindset, as spursfans, of competing for a ring every year. We didn't have a big 3. We just had prime Duncan, a group of guys who knew their roles, and a soon to be a lock for the hall of fame coach (which we also didn't know at the time).
Dethroning that Laker team was an awesome feeling. I still remember D Fish shedding tears on the sidelines.
Right up there with that though was Steve Kerr lighting it up from the 3 pt line against Dallas. The rivalry wasn't yet set, but I remember thinking about the transition from hating the rockets to hating the then somewhat more relevant mavs.
Looking back on that 03 run also reminds me how huge SJax was for us. Man he'd be the perfect athletic, small forward for us right now. A solid defender with shooting range, passing ability, and tough guy scrappyness. It's a shame keeping him in a spurs uniform got screwed up in the 03 offseason.
Should be an interesting offseason for us this year though. I know we're probably sticking to the 2010plan so we won't do anything to drastic, but we have the full MLE to offer and one solid acquisition puts us right back in the running in my opinion.
Man, all those brought back some really good memories. That Steve Kerr need to be in there as well as the tim duncan shot wonder shot at the top of the key over shaq (I think we lost that one though) and then there's this:

You can't have a spurs title without completely shitting on the Suns. I mean, they have to hate us.
