Free Agency

What big man do y'all want starting next to Duncan this season?

Rumors have been flying around like crazy this week and you never know which way the covert front office is going to swing until it's already done.

Here's a list of available bigs:

1. Rasheed Wallace
2. Antonio McDyess
3. Chris Anderson
4. Marcin Gortat
5. Anderson Varejao
6. Marcus Camby
7. Drew Gooden
8. Zaza Pachulia
9. Brandon Bass
10. Leon Powe
11. Fabricio Oberto

I'm a Sheed man myself, but I'd say we'd be set to have any of these guys (maybe less so Oberto) and then to have Blair, Bonner, Mahinmi backing up Timmy and whoever we get.

the guy that broke the news on the sheed trade is now saying Glen Big Baby Davis is close to signing a deal with the Spurs.

not quite sure how i feel about this. he's not the long, quick, rebounding/shot blocking power forward we need. but he's a helluva player. i loved his playoff effort last season (15 pts 5 rebounds in place of garnett)

stay tuned to thefunboys.blogspot.com for the latest updates!

Ryno, thanks for the updates. Being in Boston, I have actually heard very little about the Celtics, it's all about the Sox right now. I'm not sure either about Baby Davis, just not sure....

P.s. Can Cervenche please update his Twitter status, it's nearly a week of old news

With the acquisition of R-Jeff, I think all the spurs need is a defensive bigman.

In conclusion, chris anderson.

He's like a white, shot-blocking, weed-smoking dennis rodman.

i would LOVE the birdman on this team. he'd be great next to duncan. all we need is a little weakside help D to help out timmy and we're set. he doesn't have to score unless TP9 wants to toss him an alley oop or two.

i think he can be had with the money we have to offer, but i'm not sure if he's a restricted free agent or not, so denver could likely match our offer as losing andersen would totally diminish the front line that kept them in the series with LA.

The San Antonio Spurs have emerged as the leader in the courtship of free-agent forward Antonio McDyess, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

San Antonio is one of three teams offering the full mid-level exception over two years, sources said. No deal is imminent, but it’s believed McDyess has offers from the Orlando Magic and possibly the Cleveland Cavaliers.

McDyess is considered one of the best unrestricted free agents on the market, and could complete a terrific offseason makeover for the Spurs as they retool for another championship run.

“He’s definitely been wrestling with this [decision],” one league executive said.

Detroit president Joe Dumars still wants to re-sign McDyess, but needs to clear more space to make a competitive offer.

McDyess, 34, averaged 9.6 points and 9.8 rebounds for the Pistons last season

sounds good to me! 10 and 10 is just what we need!

IT'S OFFICIAL ANTONIO MCFREAKING DYESS IS A SPUR!!!

best possible signing? i think it might be. guy put up 10 and 10 last year and his mid-range jump shot is more automatic than kurt thomas's was supposed to be.

he's like that nazr or thomas signing that happens in february, but instead he'll have training camp, preseason, and the entire regular season to get acclimated to the offense and defense.

it's gonna be one helluva season bitches! bring on those LA c u next tuesdays!

McDyess has always been a Piston that teams have had trouble with especially when focusing on Sheed and Hamilton, McDyess has that reliable mid-range jumpshot if left open. My only issue is the dude is 34 and I would hate a repeated "bust" like with Curt Thomas. I would like to have seen Brandon Bass come to SA.
