massive picture! necessary to do it justice though.

1. Tip Top Cafe
2. Lulu's
3. Goodtime Charlies
4. Hungry Horse (RIP)
5. Outback (This one's for you Mety)

Again, trying to find some diamonds in the rough. I've heard good things about Lone Star Cafe downtown.

I enlisted the help of my Pops on this one since I am not as "well traveled" in the chicken fried's. He provided his top 3:

1. MK Davis
(this is a bar on Flores street and it is recommended to go there when you don't have to go back to work. They have schooners of beer that should be enjoyed with your CFS.)

2. Goodtime Charlies

3. Lulu's Jailhouse Cafe
(This is another gem. It's down by SAC and was featured on Man Vs. Food for their cinnamon rolls.)

4. Alamo Cafe
(I'm throwing this one in because I ate this after church every Sunday as a kid.)

5. Triple C steak house in Devine, Tx
(I often eat the CFS here on hunting trips.)

I, like any normal human, love Chicken Fried Steak... HOWEVER, I find it one of the hardest things to order in my adult life. It is so insanely filling that it has the potential to put you out of commish for up to 5 hours. But, it's awesome and I actually remember the last CFS I had....

November 2009 at Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls. It was after my last probation meeting for my BWI. I ordered Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, and man it was delicious. I even have the picture to prove it. I must say, it was the best Chicken Fried Steak I have ever devoured. I might have even taken a nap in my car postmeal before driving back to Houston.

2. I always enjoyed Chicken Fried Steak at Luby's Cafeteria. It was my staple meal on Sunday from age 8-14 or so.

3. Im pretty sure The Main on TCU campus had a good CFS.

That's about all that's ringing a bell. Hill Country Cupboard in Johnson City claims to have "The World's Best", but I have never actually tried it. http://www.hillcountrycupboard.com/

Very interested in MK Davis off Flores.

Also gonna have to find a way to pencil in a trip to bluebonnet cafe next time we're in the area.

And the Main at TCU had an excellent chicken fried steak. all of the food was delicious, but anything involving the cream gravy (no homo) was awesome! biscuits and gravy, chicken strips, etc...

One thing I'll always remember about the Alamo CFS is Brad Collie pulling the gravy ketchup mix.

I had the CFS at Hill Cuntry Cupboard. It was piping hot and tits. The menus are brown paper bags. I used mine to wipe the gravy off my tits.

First, MK Davis is a must. The beer alone is worth it. Try not to go on a Friday during the peak lunch hour cause it gets crazy crowded. 11:00 - 11:30 and you should be good or just wait till after everyone leaves. used to go there weekly with my dad when I was in school. My grandfather used to go there daily to get a beer.

Second, Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls is obviously legit. Definately worth the wait when there is a line out the door.

Third, Babes Fried Chicken in Roanoke is awesome. I tried the one in Carrollton also but didnt seem quite as good. Could have been a off day though.

Fourth, Tip Top Cafe is Tip Top CFS. Make sure to bring cash cause they dont accept credit cards. Havent been there in a couple of years so they may have joined the rest of the world and got themselves a card reader.

Fifth, Lulu's is great. It will make you leave asking yourself "what the hell was I thinking"? But sometimes thats part of the fun.
