Good call on The Cove. I was hoping to get reminded of some local gems with this thread.
Yeah you can't go wrong at that place. Outstanding food, live tunes, and a sweet beer selection to boot.
Also, you can get some laundry done next door..
Burgers
1. Longhorn/Chesters (sorry, its a dead heat for #1)
2. Kincaids (bad name, great burger) (Fort Worth)
3. Jon's Grill (RIP Jon, RIP The Golf Burger) (Fort Worth)
4. Christian's Tailgate (If you Funboys ever make it over to Houston, maybe Ill take you there) (H-Town)
5. Five Guys (Chain, but pretty damn good)
Great find on that website Stanton. I love how the Longhorn review incorporates the legendary slide - http://www.sanantonioburger.com/2009/01/review-6-longhorn-cafe.html
I stick with Chesters and Whataburger (ATT Center one). Some other honorable mentions not thrown out yet... Beefys Backyard, Bigz (way too many kids) and Fudruckers (I haven't actually been in 5 years, may suck now).
Dalrymple, you played football with the head chef (don't know his name) in the picture a few before the slide, black shirt, turning around (well atleast I think it's him) I'm sure one of you Funboys know his name.
Alex Van Pelt I believe? Dan always reminds me his name when we eat there. And Dan always says hello of course.
@kevin - i had jon's and kincaid's in mind when i included the caveat for other cities. love those burgers. need to try christian's tailgate.
one i also forgot: broadway 50/50
i also agree with cervenka about the whataburger in the at&t center. it's the best one and worth the extra coin.
need to try beefy's again. it's been 10 years or so. fudruckers is still awesome. i made the mistake of getting a double at bigz. ridiculous.
just crushed a double from longhorn. cured my hangover instantly.
any remember lil hips...by sac...nice
I also like steak and shake all though a lil on the upside for "quick serve"
fuddruckers i think was bought by the pappas burger...another good burger
also, great place to take your kids and your buddies that helped you moved....MOMACKS....other than that, maybe if we play bushwoods and need some food
ohh no chris madrids....wait for alex to post
also, there were a couple 50 style burger stands in lubbock that were awesome as well
yeah pappas burger is really good. i always get the chili cheese burger at the houston airport.
and alex is not a fan of chris madrid's? i thought that was a san antonio institution?! i don't rate it as high as most people in this town, because i think they slap tons of cheese on it as somewhat of a crutch, but it's still one of my favorites around town. top 5-10 material at worst.
and where's the austin crew at? any good veggie burgers with fake goat cheese?
Good Friday conversation's. The wife and I are actually grilling burgers tonight, have a funboytastic weekend.
have you'll sen the new burger king burger....it has japs and cheese inside...kevin let us know, just up your alley
did you'll ever have the hotdogs with cheese in the middle growing up
no, i think alex is a fan of madrids...maybe they parents went to school together
