The X-Factor

With 26 days until the season opener, its time to get some Spurs talk going. Unfortunately there is not much to talk about other then Pop and his badass beard.
We have Manu out until mid December and an aging Duncan with support of an even more aging big man (Thomas). With off season additions such as Mason, Stoudamire, Hill, Hairston, Green, Gaines, and Tolliver??? I'm not sure where this team is really going, hopefully not a 6 or 7th playoff seed...
I guess the one guy we can put our trust in this season is Coach Pop. If any coach can get this team back to the Finals, and possibly give us a 5th championship, its Pop. Maybe even another coach of the year award?
Hopefully my beard is up to Pop's standard by the season opener...
Go Spurs Go!

Upside:

-If we can get through this time without Manu, well be fine. This can allow him to peak later in the season.

-Michael Finley has apparently trimmed down. He's changed his diet and started working out two days after the WCF loss to LA. He's back to a weight he hasn't been since his days in Dallas.

-We still have Matt Freaking Bonner.

-As long as the big three can get to the post season healthy and peaking, I wouldn't trade our roster for any other.

-Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant both had busy summers instead of resting and preparing for the NBA season. Kobe has also has decided to forgo surgery on his hand.

-TMacs shoulder is bothering him and should keep him from being 100% for the entire season. Not that "Clutch City" is a threat.

-The Hornets didn't really gain too much either. They added Posey and lost Pargo. They still don't have a bench outside of the great Melvin Ely.

-The Jazz and Suns didn't really make waves either and up and comers like Portland and the Clippers still have a long way to go.

So all in all, the spurs pretty much have stood pat. they didn't have a whole lot of money to work with, so guys like corey maggette were always out of the picture.

Also, it is important to note that all contracts signed for this season and next are leading the way for the 2010 plan. (In 2010 the only players on contract are Duncan and Parker - leaving some big time cap space to go after a Bosh/Wade/Bron...)

we no spurs are around, there is only one thing you can do....a lil becky hammon, and ole waters, with dan hughes at the helm (minus the beard), there is not a lot this team cant do....the start was rough on wed, but tonight, at 630pm on espn2...the stars will give the detroit shock a shocker of their own....this is big folks....well as big as it can get for the wnba...if the stars win...then the spurs win....oh man, could you imagine...

Parker was quoted saying that he thinks this is the last season of the core group being together. Who do you think he is talking about? Manu, Tim, Tony, and Bruce? Or just Manu, Tim, and Tony? Either way, he said that his heart wants to stay in San Antonio but "we'll see what happens".

It is 2009 baby, odd year!

What happened to the Dynamo post?

it's still there i think?

it might have been removed due to it's subject matter being largely comprised of soccer though...
